Definition of BIZARRE : fantastic, strange (often with a suggestion of the ridiculous or the uncanny). The New Collins Concise English Dictionary

To me the above definition has a touch of The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party straight out of Alice in Wonderland.

But take your pick from the following:

  • The proposed watering down of the Racial Discrimination Act through a series of amendments that are a slap in the face to anyone who has ever been the target of racial or religious vilification.

OR

  • ‘… people have a right to be bigots’.

True according to The Age (27 March 2014) ‘but where those rights interfere with the rights of others, something has to give.’

And something has given! Read Below…

THE GOOD NEWS IS:
According to the Nielson Poll conducted on March 14, 88% of those polled disagreed with the Federal Government plans to water down the Racial Discrimination Act (RDA).

IN OTHER WORDS THE PROPOSED CHANGES TO THE RDA have been deemed as ‘unacceptable behaviour’.

Open Your Own Bazaar

The Editor invites readers to submit their own Bazaar/Bizarre Moments for publication.

Preferred word length is 100-200. Your anecdotes of the BIZARRE could come from real life or something you might have read elsewhere. If you are cut and pasting from material that is not your own, however, a gentle reminder that YOU MUST CITE YOUR SOURCE or else you fall into the fiery pit of PLAGIARISM.

New readers to SULTANA may find it useful to read earlier editions for examples of our witty, wacky and somewhat macabre sense of humour. They are archived under Previous Editions.

The editor has the final say. Submissions should be emailed to: editor@sultanasdream.com.au
